Professor Liu is a recipient for the Zhejiang Provincial Thousand Talents Plan (浙江省千人计划创新人才长期项目入选者). He received PhD from Tsinghua University (清华大学) under the guidance of Prof. Gang Yu (余刚院士), he was a postdoctoral researcher at California Institute of Technology (加州理工学院) under the guidance of Prof. Michael R. Hoffmann (迈克尔霍夫曼院士). He is an editorial board member (编委) of Chemosphere, and he served as a NSF panelist (美国自然科学基金会评专家).
