Subject Area: Environmental Chemistry

This course will integrate two aspects of electrochemistry. The first part relates to basic electrochemistry and electrochemical methods including potentiometric and voltammetric techniques.

The second part will discuss specific electrochemical systems that are of interest to environmental scientists. The two will be integrated where appropriate.

On successful completion of this course students will be able to:

1. Learn the fundamentals of mixed instrumental techniques based on electrochemistry.

2. Understand the theoretical basis of electrochemical impedance.

3. Gain awareness of the potential of modified electrodes in applications of environmental science interest.

Recommended Prep: The course presumes basic knowledge in chemistry, physics, and mathematics at high school level.
